Passports and Visas

A valid passport is required for people travelling to Tanzania.

As a requirement for entry into Tanzania, all passports must be valid for at least six months AFTER your expected return date.  Please check your passport expiration date.  If your passport will expire within six months of your return date you MUST have your passport renewed.  No exceptions.

 

In addition, when travelling to Tanzania, all passports must have at least two consecutive blank pages.  Pages must lie side by side when passport is open.  If you do not have enough blank pages, you will need to have them added to your passport before your departure.

 

A tourist visa is required for entry into Tanzania.  Visas can be obtained at the airport upon arrival.  The cost is $50 for residents of the UK or European Union, and $100 for U.S. citizens.  Visas must be paid for in CASH (U.S. dollars only) so be sure to bring bills issued 2008 or later and larger denominations - $50 or over.
